Lupins are a legume widely consumed as a snack, especially in southern Spain. Commonly known as "chochos," they are similar to sunflower seeds in their consumption; in fact, many people sprinkle them with salt before eating them. Their resemblance to sunflower seeds lies in the fact that the shell is bitten to extract the fleshy kernel inside, which has a distinctive flavor.
For its preparation it is necessary that they go through a soaking process for a period of time before cooking, since this fruit is not suitable for direct human consumption and in this way the bitter and toxic substances that it contains by its nature are eliminated.
